Low impact exercise is appropriate for clients with a low exercise tolerance or with conditions which may be easily exacerbated by jumping, running and high load exercises.
It is specifically designed for those who are very deconditioned which may be due to recovery from an illness, inactivity due to a long standing pain condition or for rehabilitation following cancer therapy.
This is run initially as a 1 on 1 consult, tailoring the exercise to your specific needs. When both you and your physiotherapist feel it is safe and appropriate for you, you may join a supervised class where you will do a wide variety of exercises which may include using resistance bands or free weights, a recumbent exercise bike, treadmill, some pilates equipment and balance work. The exercise program is tailored to each individual’s specific requirements and capability.
The physiotherapist taking the class ensues each individual works with good technique at their own pace and addressing their own individual needs while socialising with others.
To be assessed for a low impact exercise program please phone and make an appointment with our physiotherapists who will design a specific program for you after an assessment to thoroughly understand your needs.
